History
- In the early 1990s we were contacted by the Ghent Port Authority. They knew about De Buck's reputation as a high quality coach company and travel agency.
- The question was whether we could organise half- and full-day excursions for passengers from the Russian cruise ship Karelya starting from the port of Ghent
- Our answer was: Yes, of course!
- That's how the Karelya, belonging to CTC Cruises, became one of the very first cruise vessels calling in Belgium in 1993. And De Buck was in charge of the shore excursions. With success.
- Princess Cruises was the next cruise line considering Belgium as a cruise destination, but they did not yet have a tour agency
- Luckily for De Buck, Princess checked with CTC cruises to find out which agency was recommended for their Belgian tours. That's how they met us.
- De Buck now professionally handles hundreds of guests for the Royal Princess (28 coaches), compared to 'only' those few dozens of Karelya passengers (4 coaches)
- Thanks to the arrival of the Princess cruise liners (e.g. the Love Boat) we learnt how to meet the specific requirements and high standards of cruise passengers
- The story became a success. Every major cruise liner ended up contracting us for shore excursions in Belgium
- We became the de facto standard shore excursions agency for all Belgian ports
- We have also been been operating in the nearby Amsterdam and Rotterdam ports for a number of years now. We currently take care of the shore excursions for Celebrity Cruises, Cunard Line, Radisson Seven Seas Cruise Line, RCCL and Seabourn Cruise Line.
